★ Characters, Figurines, Sculpture ★
Here you will find the full collection of my sculptural work. These little creatures are the children of my imagination. My work is inspired by magic and fantasy; each character has their own little story that comes together during the creative process. This body of work is part of a series I have been putting together called Life Is Play, exploring real-world 'magic' and the return of childhood excitement.

The Dream Weaver
A tiny being who puts your mind to rest as you prepare to travel from the conscious mind into the unconscious depths of sleep. He dissolves all of the unnecessary mind activity which has collected and polluted the consciousness throughout the day, penetrating into the pure self and clearing the slate for stillness.

Magic Frog
This brightly coloured magic frog is a little bit psychic; when he puffs his throat out his visions are revealed in the air bubble.

Precious
Precious is a tiny embodiment of the inner baby self that every adult human is responsible for. In our core and essence, we carry around past versions of our childhood selves through our adult schedules and daily routines. Today's society is fast paced and exhausting, especially for Precious. With scruffy fluff and eyes wide open and pleading, she is frazzled by the absurd ritual of remaining functional. Yet, her magical horn still withholds.

Dragonfly
Fast asleep, the dragonfly has transformed into a magical creature. I made this piece to be paired with 'Dream Weaver', a representation of escapism through sleep.

Bat Prince
The prince of the night, of complete darkness and pure evil. He is about the size of a large kiwi, therefore harmless to us big people. But at least pretend to be afraid, Bat Prince has a very fragile ego.

Ocean Dragon
A beautiful mythical dragon that lives deep under sea. She rises to the surface in spring time and her magic helps the cherry blossom trees to flower. Then she returns to the deep sea until next spring!

Fairy House
A tiny house for a fairy, or maybe an insect. With spindly turrets and bluebell roofs, build with miniature bricks and decorated with dragonfly engravings. Created as part of the 'Life is Play' series.

Moon Moth
A child of the moon, the Moon Moth possesses an immense connection to the earth and nature. He plays with the moon and dances with its energy. I have made a short and playful animation to pair with this piece.

Armature & Process
This is a collection of process pictures to showcase the development of my work. For larger pieces, I usually start by building an armature skeleton with wire and foil. All pieces look very different before painting and adding texture, so it is interesting to see how the clay models look straight out of the oven.
